The Role of the Community in Child Protection (October 2016)

ChildLinK and several partners from the Child Rights Alliance (CRA) participated in a public education televised programmes during the month of October 2016.

Representatives from ChildLinK, the Rights of the Child Commission (RCC), Child Care and Protection Agency (CPA) and the Pattensen Community Development Council (PCDC) were part of a panel discussion on 24th October, 2016, live on NCN TV. The panel focused on the role of the community in child protection. They explored the negative effects of the use of violent disciplinary measures and encouraged viewers to use non violent disciplinary methods.

The partners expressed their enthusiasm towards the CRA, noting that the collaboration will make everyone’s work less tedious and more effective.

ChildLinK and Family Awareness Consciousness Togetherness (FACT) along with Humanitarian Mission of New Jersey Arya Samaj sensitized the Ancient County of Berbice on the role of the community in child protection on 17th October live on 88.5 Rock FM.

FACT is a community based partner in the Child Rights Alliance (CRA). They will provide sensitization sessions, child care counselling and parenting skills education to communities in Region in 6. Listeners were encouraged to report matters of abuse that they are aware of. They were also informed about what constitutes abuse and the various types of abuse.

The CRA encourages communities to work together to protect children from abuse. Use non violent disciplinary methods to discipline your child.
