Child Rights Alliance (CRA) member Heavenly Light World Outreach Fellowship engaged the residents of Charlestown in a community to raise awareness of the Child Neglect in Guyana Report. This activity was held on Friday November 10, 2017.

According to the report, child neglect is the most prevalent form of child abuse in Guyana. Between 2013 to 2016, 50 percent of all child abuse cases reported to the Childcare and Protection Agency (CPA) involved some component of child abuse. Boys were most likely to experience neglect than girls as 52 percent of child neglect cases were boys.

Members of the community listened attentively and shared their views as well. Heavenly Light, through the CRA, also conducts parenting skills sessions to impart knowledge and skills parents need to improve their relationship with their children, thus reducing incidents of child abuse.
