Students from Belladrum Primary and Secondary, No. 29 Primary School, Bush Lot Primary and Secondary schools are benefiting from  sensitization sessions during the months of May and June 2017. Representatives from Child Rights Alliance (CRA) partner, Family Awareness Consciousness and Togetherness (FACT) facilitated the sessions.

As of 31st May, 2017, 250 students were sensitized on topics such as sex and gender, the rights and responsibilities of the child (as stated in the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child) and the Tell Scheme. Sensitization on more topics will follow. The objective of the sensitization sessions is to increase children’s awareness of child abuse and child abuse preventative methods in an effort to prevent child abuse and increase reporting of child abuse cases.

As at May 31, 2017, over 250 children were sensitized. There were 29 reported cases if abuse as a result of the sensitization. Eight children are being counselled while the remaining 21 are being monitored.

The Child Rights Alliance seeks to protect at least 6,000 children from abuse and violence through advocacy, lobbying, research and networking.
