One of the important deliverables of The Child Rights Alliance is to provide at least 500 parents with parenting skills education sessions. The first set of sessions was held in Calcutta, Mahaicony and Shieldstown, Rosignol.

Twelve parents from Shieldstown and seven parents from Calcutta were participants in these sessions which begun on March 15th and 16th, 2017. The facilitator, Beverley Bunbury, engaged the parents in the following topics:

  1. Early Childhood Experiences
  2. Types of Parenting
  3. Why Do We Hit Our Children?
  4. What is Parenting?

The Child Rights Alliance aims to protect at least 6,000 children from abuse. In order to accomplish this objective, the Child Rights Alliance partners will train parents to understand what is abuse, the potential harm it can cause the child and non violent methods of discipline.

The Child Rights Alliance is collaboration between the Rights of the Child Commission and ChildLinK. The partners include Community Based Organizations in Regions 3, 4 and 5 as well as government agencies, regional administration and other stakeholders.
