Child Rights Alliance (CRA) members The Orchid Foundation and ChildLinK engaged the residents of La Grange, West Bank Demerara in a community tour on August 22, 2017. The objective of this community tour was to sensitize the residents about the Child Rights Alliance (CRA) and invite parents to parenting sessions.
Several parents expressed their enthusiasm at the possibility of parenting sessions in the community. One parent remarked of the need for a new approach to engaging children since their current situation is different from previous generations. A few others were happy that the Alliance is showing interest in their community and are eager to learn something new.
Parents are important stakeholders in preventing child abuse. Child abuse can take on a generational cycle if no intervention occurs. The CRA remains committed to working with families and all other stakeholders to create a safe environment where children can grow to their full potential.
